I have a new hero.

I caught a clip from MSNBC the other day, where host David Shuster talked to Kevin Jackson, an outspoken African-American conservative. Here is the video:

I was impressed, and inspired by Jackson, that I decided to do a little follow-up work and find out who he was. This led me to his website, The Black Sphere.

Wow. Of course, I'm well familiar with the liberal dialogue that says "Blacks who support the Right are Uncle Toms and sell-outs." Don't believe me? Just ask Jesse Jackson, and the Congressional Black Caucus.

So here is Kevin Jackson, a black conservative. Like Condeleeza Rice, Clarence Thomas, Michael Steele and thousands of other African-Americans, he has decided to actually stand up to the liberal group-think and has become a successful author of a book, "The Big Black Lie" that deals with how liberalism (and the Democrats) have destroyed the black community (and continue to do so). I just ordered the book myself. It's a first-hand account from someone who has lived it.

Anyway, I wanted to share Mr. Jackson's latest blog post, which is not only informational, but again, inspiring:

Democrats Lawyer Up

If you don’t have enough proof that a black voice of Conservatism is needed today more than ever, look at what just happened since the boy who would be king has usurped America! Despite the protestations of the majority of the people, we got Deathcare, and they used black Democrats to make it happen!

The real first black president Bill Clinton couldn’t do pass it. He even used his wife, Hillary “I Don’t Feel No Way Tired[1]” Rodham-Clinton in an attempt to cajole black people to support DeathCare. But black people were having no part of HillaryCare, despite her invocation of Rev James Cleveland or Bill’s supposed witnessing of black churches being burned, when he was a mere child. All the religious imagery did nothing to sway black Democrtas to support DeathCare during The Clintonista Era – Part I.

Has DeathCare changed? They shifted a few things here and there, move this to that and what not. But at the end of the day ObamaCare is just HillaryCare in a new Italian suit. And it translates to DeathCare regardless of the author, so it means means fewer doctors delivering sub-par medical care to the fewer people. CastroCare!

Regardless, this time DeathCare sold…sort of! Which brings me to just how Amerika got DeathCare, and who was the Liberals “Deliverer.” (Hint)

One of my friends, Lloyd Marcus calls Obama “the Progressives’ black Trojan horse” in a very well written piece. That depiction of Obama is spot on accurate! Who better than to propagate the continuation of Democrats’ destruction of the black population and America as a whole, than a pseudo black man riding in on a Trojan horse?!

Margaret Sanger recommended using black preachers, back in the day when she proposed The Negro Project[2]. The Dems did, and it worked well into the old millennium. Through the use of a few black preachers, the Democrats all but erased their unbelievably dismal record on civil rights, and in a stroke of sheer genius, flipped it onto the Republican Party—the TRUE party of civil rights! Democrats of yore used black men of God to sell black people back into slavery. BRILLIANT…if you’re a “Progressive,” not so good for black people.

However the game changed on those wiley Dems. Black people, previously staunch Conservatives, became infected with the disease of Liberalism. Family values were abandoned, education was not stressed. Black churches eroded into political pulpits, where the discussion was less about God, and more about the next White or Black Political Hope! Churches became dens of trickery, parading white Democrat politicians in front of eager black minds–eager to get something for nothing, the Liberal way. White politicians promised to give black people “just enough to quiet them down, but not enough to make a difference.[3]” They fulfilled that promise.

God left the black church, when the church decided Government was their new god. This marginalized the black “ministers,” and the Democrats needed a new strategy…a better mousetrap as it were. Why use a few slick black hucksters posing as men of God, when you can have a Godless LAWYER!

The fact that he is “light-skin with no Negro dialect (unless he needs it)[4]” is just icing on that German pseudo-chocolate cake! The day of the bouffant hairdo preacher ended, and the slick big city pseudo black attorney was en vogue!

The black Progressive Trojan horse now known as Barry “Barack Obama” Soetoro started out running on popularity, but his real role was to lawyer up! Yes, America got beaten by a team of lawyers, led by one of the most corrupt lawyers on the planet, so much so that he and his wife no longer practice law. Some believe they CAN’T anymore.

It gets better. Barry Soetoro is not just a lawyer. If that were the case, they could have found just about any light-skin with no Negro dialect Negro to parade in front of America. No, Barry is the Holy Grail for Progressives. He is also a race-baiting elitist! Think about it. He can appoint Black Nationalists, and nobody on the Left says a word. Why wouldn’t white Liberals be appalled? Because appointing Black Nationalists provides fuel to controlling black people, Silly!

“Oo, I love me some Van Jones! And he won’t take nothin’ from no white folks. And Mark Lloyd is gone git us some money, and git those CEOs out of they jobs, so we can run some companies!”

Here’s the wrap:

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Republicans remain the party of civil rights and Democrats are still slave owners. We find ourselves in a similar situation as in the mid 1800’s, and nothing has changed. This is why I call the year 2010, Emancipation II – This time even the white folks get freed. Freedom will again come by the hands of a Republicans. This time it may be a black Republican who is America’s new Superman!

Black Republicans will be called on to stem the tide of Liberalism in black communities, or Democrat will continue to use black people to pass legislation that will not help black people or anybody else for that matter. Democrats have watered-down health care, just like they watered-down black people past and present.

Democrats recognized that black pastors couldn’t get it done during the Era of the Clintinistas, so this time they “lawyered up!”

That’s my rant!

Liberals love to call conservatives "racists." But history has proven over and over again that it's the Democrat Party that has it's ties to deep-seated racism. All the "social-engineering"in the world can't hide the fact that it still runs rampant in the left. Yes, I know that Rep. John Lewis alleges that someone called him the "N" word. But for one thing, there has been no proof. In today's cell-phone camera word, you'd think someone would have heard it. That's why Andrew Breitbart has offered a $10,000 reward for evidence (and why there hasn't been any takers). It's an old liberal trick to create phony outrages as a play for victimhood.

I'm not saying some member of the tea-party movement isn't a closet racist. There are crazy people everywhere. But the Democrats have created this lie - swallowed by the leftist media - that conservatives are racists and fear-mongers. When in reality, it's just the opposite. I believe in psychology we call that "projecting."

Let me put it in the simplest of terms. Y'all remember the old adage about teaching someone to fish, don't you? It goes like this:

"If you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. But if you teach him to fish, he'll eat for life."

Well, at least until Obama comes along and makes private fishing illegal. Yes, I know that this was not exactly what he meant, but sometimes I do have to play for laughs.

Anyway, my point is, what Obama - and statists, such as himself, wish to do is give away the fish that other's have caught. This is what all these social programs - most notably President Johnson's "Great Society" - was all about. While it is charitable to want to help people, it is malevolent to do so in a way that destroys ones ability to do for himself.

Conservatives do not want to turn their backs on those less fortunate. Far from it. We just understand that, for one thing, charity should not be coerced. And regardless of what liberals say, Conservatives are more charitable than they are.

Look, I know from what I speak. I have often been in need from others and believe me, it is the worst feeling in the world. So why would I want to bestow that feeling to millions of unfortunate others? Yes, there are people who need. But constantly giving and giving and giving (and I don't mean to the old and the infirm), we are sucking the life and liberty from individuals.

Remember that poor woman who claimed on Election Day that now that Obama was elected, she won't have to pay for her mortgage? Do you honestly believe she was a lone wolf?

It's very easy to get elected when you promise people something for free. But someone has to pay for it. Unfortunately, the black community has been paying for it with their children and their blood. And the hands soaked in red belongs to the Democrat Party.

Heroes like Kevin Jackson understand this.

The Thuggery against Israel

I've written many words regarding President Obama's reaction to the Israeli announcement that they approved housing extensions in Jerusalem. But to be honest, as much as I've known his displeasure at anything a Likud leader does, I really didn't expect this:

Binyamin Netanyahu humiliated after Barack Obama 'dumped him for dinner

Aside from the obvious anti-Israel slant London's Times Online notoriously has, the headline and story are unmistakable. Obama's treatment of Netanyahu - not just a visiting Head of State, but of a close American ally - is beyond the pale. It is disgusting, immoral and extraordinarily childish. Well, coming from this President, that really doesn't say too much.

In order to understand the depth of this issue, let's look back at the undisputed facts as they took place over the past few weeks, which led up to this shameless act.

The area in question, which Obama is supposedly angry with is called Ramat Shlomo. This neighborhood, which has stood since 1993 - on land that was not the site of any previous Arab community - was never considered a part of any agreement to give to any future Palestinian state.

That's point number one. To compare apples to apples, imagine the United States agreeing to return the border cities of Texas back to Mexico, and then Spain telling the US they couldn't build any housing in Dallas.

The second point, and the one most glaring - if you are truly righteous in your belief of human rights - is thus:

Even in the infinitesimal chance that this area were to be given (certainly, given would be the right word, since under no circumstance do they deserve it on their own accord), why is it illegal to build Jews home on property that legally belongs to them.

And here is where I have the biggest issue (and you should to). Currently, in the State of Israel, 17% of the population is Muslim. These Muslims have full voting rights. As citizens, they have the right to work where they want, to congregate where they want, to elect whatever leaders they want. They receive outstanding health benefits and all the wonderful things allowed in a free society.

Legally, no one can tell a Muslim in Israel where he may, or may not live. In fact, in the cases where a Jew did make such warnings, the courts overwhelmingly side with the Muslim. But the reason is not out of pity for the "poor, oppressed" Arab. But because that is the law of a free society.

In "Palestine" - or at least in what the Arabs hope will be (not including the whole of it they wish to conquer) - or in any other Islamic state, Jews are either completely forbidden, or at the very least treated as third-class citizens (no ownership, no freedom of movement and forced to pay a jizya).

What is it about Barack Obama that makes him believe that a Jew can not build on land he owns in the capitol of the Jewish State?

Is it arrogance? Anti-semitism? Or is it simply an excuse to embarass Netanyahu because, unlike himself, he is not a left-radical?

What really is Obama's plan?

Well, based on the overwhelming support Bibi has received from both Houses of Congress, and also based on the latest Jerusalem Post poll - where belief that Obama is a friend of Israel's is below 10% (regardless of Ha'aretz' outrageous claims to the contrary), it's clear that whatever it is Obama is attempting is backfiring.

On the other hand, what it has done is embolden Arab intransigence. Immediately following Vice President Biden's snub, as well as Hillary Clinton's vile remarks, Arab thugs began throwing rocks and wreaking havoc in the tiny country. Of course, this also could have been part of the plan. Certainly, an experienced (and grown-up) President would have known how easily the flame of violence explodes in that region. If, as many of us expect, Obama's objective is to force the leftward movement of the Knesset (which has always been the goal of leftist governments throughout history), then I'm afraid our Dear Leader has make a terrible miscalculation.

For one thing, Bibi Netanyahu is no rookie leader. He's seen these kinds of shenanigans in the past when he was Prime Minister during America's Clinton years. In addition, with each act of defiance against Obama, he improves his nation's belief in his abilities. As long as Obama is seen as an enemy, Bibi will continue to look strong in his face.

But forget politics for a moment. What we should all be focusing in is what is right. Israel has every right to build within her own borders. Jews have every right to build on land they own. And Obama - while he is the President of Israel's ally - is not the President of the Israeli people.

You know, it's simply astounding that Obama can be seen laughing it up with the likes of thugs, like Hugo Chavez. He has spent an enormous amount of time kissing the ass of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. He has made no secret of his burning desire to treat our enemies (and the enemies of freedom) with love, respect and perhaps a little tongue (sorry, couldn't resist). But when it comes to friends and allies, he treats them as if he owns them.

As a Jew, I am deeply embarrassed that my President acts in such a way to my people. As an American, I'm ashamed. I know there are many liberal Jews who believe Obama can do no wrong. But they are so completely off balance, it makes little sence to even try to convince them otherwise. But for them, I wish to remind them of this:

In Biblical times (well, we are about to celebrate Passover, so they all will be reading the story of what happened), there were many Jews who decided to follow Korach, instead of Moses. They were the ones who policed the Jews for Pharaoh, and the taskmasters. They did this in order to protect themselves, at the expense of their fellow slaves. During the Holocaust, there were many Jews who defied their communities and spied for the Nazis as well.

Now, I am not trying to compare liberal Jews with Nazi sympathizers. But my point is that throughout history, Jews have often been their own worst enemy. I'm not really sure why many Jews don't see the damage unchecked liberalism can do to a society (just like unchecked conservatism). Unfortunately, out of some ancient need to be accepted, we stoop to believe that if we just shut up and act like everyone else, they will be accepted and acceptable.

Good luck with that.
From Newsbusters:

The Media's Myth of Right Wing Violence

There's a disturbing chill in the air according to the leftist media. Threats of violence and rumor of murder are taking up center stage instead of reporting legitimate public outrage about the passage of Obamacare. You need not click far online to hear another person refer to Glenn Beck as "dangerous", yet they can never claim specifically why they consider him dangerous. Despite the rhetoric, the media refuses to follow up with what makes a man, who has spent hours just this year begging people to remain peaceful, so obscenely dangerous.

Glaringly obvious to readers in this latest round of reports is that there are no specific examples of alleged threats of violence cited. I can only find one specific threat that caused the FBI to swoop in and ask a speaker to wear a bullet-proof vest on the tip that the speaker would be gunned down by an assassin. But that speaker was Glenn Beck.

Whether this is a shortcut to 2nd Amendment action, valid concern, or just a bunch of crybaby progressive politicians over-reacting to criticism, it's hard to tell. But Obama's desire to continue ramming through the most divisive legislation even against his own creed isn't helping bring calm to even the most peaceful conservatives. And while the evidence of a violent right is scarce, there's no limit to liberals attempting to make conservatives look evil.

Before letting the media continue to perpetuate a stereotype that may not actually exist at all, let me give you the facts that U.S. journalists refuse to cite. Let me show you where real violence comes from, and I don't even need to mention the millions of babies killed every year by progressives or even the tens of millions of people murdered by their communist heroes.

I could literally go on and on, but let's try to have some perspective here. Violence is a product of the fringe, on either side, and it's sickening to try to use it for political advantage. Those who commit violence in the name of politics deserve political change no more than they deserve leniency in sentencing. Violence furthers no cause. The only call to action that violence has ever motivated in Americans is in the retaliation on attackers. Somehow I think the liberals know that very well.

The media and politicians who are trying to construct a meme of conservative violence as we run up to the 2010 elections should only face the weapon they fear most; the ballot.

I Got Mail

I love when my fans comment on my blog. But this one is something that is quickly becoming one of my favorites:

strop being a little bitch and man up, a man that hits a woman is a complete faggot, fuck u and ur illnes lol ur not a higly skilled worker, and ur "prior education" is a joke, the only reason u have ur "highly skilled job" is due to your religion nothing more...have a great day and fuck yourself :)

Now I know what you're thinking. It's just some insignificant child who has a serious anger management issue. But here's the funny thing - thanks to modern technology (Site Meter is great), not only do I know when it was sent, I know from where it was sent as well. So, if the person who wrote this (and you know I know who you are) reads this, please know that I would be very surprised if your employer would appreciate the liability you have just brought upon him.

Clearly not the smartest decision you've ever made, my dear.

But the one thing that strikes me more than anything else is the fact that this poster told me to "man up." It's an interesting comment coming from someone who comments anonymously.

I can't imagine the CRC appreciates how little this poster considers the importance of the Koshrut laws, either. In fact, after speaking to them regarding this, I know they aren't very amused. Certainly, if whoever posted this worked at a place that was under the CRC certification, I believe that their boss would be quite embarrassed as well.

But that's just me. After all, the person did post this "anonymously," right?

By the way, your spelling is atrocious.

Anyway, I welcome all letters and comments, and as always, I'll tell you what I think.

American Idol Review
Top 11

I haven't done this in a couple of years, but I'm in the mood. So here we go...

Lee Dewyze -- The Letter

Lee's performance was the best one I've heard from him, since the competition began. He showed less fear and more comfort on the stage. I was most impressed with his use of the horn section, which was more like Joe Cocker's version. GRADE: B+

Paige Miles -- Against All Odds

This was a disaster, from beginning to end. Paige started out below pitch and somehow managed to stray above and below throughout the painful performance. This may have been the worst performance I've seen and heard in years. GRADE: F

Tim Urban -- Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Tim is who Tim is. I believe his biggest issue this week was the song he chose. It may have worked better, had he attempted Dwight Yoakam's version of the song. Instead, he tried to dance and play to the girls in the front. Tim isn't going very far in this competition. But Paige is probably going to save him this week. GRADE: D+

Aaron Kelley - I Don't Want To Miss a Thing

In all fairness to Aaron, he was suffering from laryngitis, and therefore unable to sing as well as he could. Still, he sang the song well and he picked a good, if not boring, song for himself. He has a nice sound to his voice, accented with a bit of a country twang. But he still seems way too young on stage. GRADE: B-

Crystal Bowersox -- Me and Bobby McGee

Crystal is exceptionally talented. That's why I was not as impressed with her choice of song as the panel was. Yes, she sang it impeccably and looked like a star on stage. But where was the surprise? Where was the challenge? If I wanted to hear the song exactly as it sounds on the radio, I'd have turned on the radio. GRADE: A-

Michael Lynche -- When a Man Loves a Woman

Boy, oh boy. This was not good, Dawg. I'm beginning to bore with Mike's mugging for the camera and cheesiness. I agreed with the panel that he chose the wrong song. It wasn't horrible, but it was forgettable. GRADE: C

Andrew Garcia -- Heard it Through The Grapevine

Excuse me, but what has happened to our original front-runner? Yeah, the judges over-played Garcia's Paula Abdul impression. But since then, Andrew has gotten progressively worse. When I watch him, I wonder if he knows what the lyrics mean. Every week is the same and I believe - if nothing else changes - he has perhaps 1-2 weeks left in this competition. GRADE: D

Katie Stevens -- Big Girls Don't Cry

There is no question that Katie is improving each week. I still believe she should not have made it out of the top 16. But her rendition of Fergie's #1 hit was nothing special. But it wasn't bad, either. She's safe for another few weeks. But in years past, she would have been gone by now. GRADE: C+

Casey James -- The Power of Love

My biggest beef with the panel is that they are so inconsistent. Simon was correct - "it was like listening to an 80's cover band." It's hard to take Kara seriously when she critiques Casey. I also felt that Casey (like Crystal) did nothing to the song to make it his own. Was it bad? No, not at all. But as Simon might say, it was like listening to an amatuer band on any given night of the week. GRADE: B-

Didi Benami -- You're No Good

So Didi does Broadway. At least it seemed like this came from a Broadway musical, anyway OMG, Simon just said the same thing). Did has a very distinctive voice and for the past couple of weeks, she has displayed a talent for cat-like style. And it almost suits her. Almost. GRADE: B-

Siobhan Magnus -- Superstition

Okay, what's up with the hair? But man, oh man. She is very, very good. Similar to Adam Lambert last year, Siobhan is the one competitor who I look most forward to each week. It would be a shame for her not to be in the final two. I thought tonight was another outstanding performance - regardless of Simon's deep love for Crystal. GRADE: A

All told, this was not a particularly good week, Idol fans. It goes without saying that this group is not nearly as talented as it was a year ago. While I enjoy Ellen's humor, I don't find she adds anything more than a quick quip before always agreeing with Randy. I am impressed with Kara - well, at at least more than I was a year ago. She seems to be more confident in her comments, which is a welcome sign. Simon is, well, Simon. Although, I do get the sense that he knows he has one foot out the door.

I'll still keep watching - if at least to watch how Crystal, Siobhan, Didi and Lee do. But if the producers wish to keep this franchise working, they need to do better next year.
I'm not a huge fan of Neal Boortz, but there are many times he stays within his own message and makes perfect sense. Here is a great example, regarding the future of health care in this country:

Well, they did it. They rammed it through. Nancy Pelosi knew what she had to do. Keep her members in Washington ... keep them away from angry constituents until they were ready to do her will. The polls clearly showed that the people in this country didn't want it .. but the door has, as Nancy Pelosi says, been "kicked in" and we are well on our way to nationalized medicine ... socialized medicine ... call it what you will, but we're on our way to a society where each and every one of us will be dependent on the government - on politicians and unelected bureaucratic hacks - for our healthcare.

This will be somewhat of a "stream of consciousness" effort ... but here's the way I see this playing out over the coming years.

Taxes, of course, go up immediately. How much in new taxes? Try one trillion dollars. A huge portion of these taxes will hit America's small businesses ... our jobs creation machine. There will be increases in Social Security Taxes and Medicare taxes. There will be new taxes for something called CLASS ... a long term in-home health care program. Then there will be a new 3.8% (What the hell ... call it 4%) tax on investment income. Just what our economy needed at a time when unemployment is rampant ... new taxes on the very sector of our economy that creates jobs.

Businesses will hunker down even more than they have been. Business planning is a long-term affair .. and businessmen will know that in a few years 50 will be the magic number when it comes to government health insurance mandates; and this includes part-time employees. So you will see businesses with just over 50 employees starting to cut back. People will lose their jobs so that the business can stay under the threshold. New business start-ups will alter business plans to make sure that they don't meet or cross that threshold when the mandates kick in.

Younger Americans with health insurance will drop their policies. Sure, they know that they will have to pay a penalty when they file their taxes, but that penalty will be much less than the cost of a health insurance policy ... costs that will be going up. Besides ... because insurance companies can no longer discriminate against people with preexisting conditions, there is absolutely no reason in the world to go out there and buy an insurance policy until you really become ill.

Since health young Americans will be dropping insurance, or staying out of the market if they never had insurance in the first place, the insurance companies will find more and more that their customers are among the unhealthiest of Americans. This means more benefits paid, of course, which will result in higher premiums. What's more, there will no longer be a lifetime cap on benefits. Even a government-educated ObamaSycophant could understand that this, too, will lead to increased premiums. But wait! There's more! Children will be able to stay on their parent's policies until age 26. What does this mean? Increased payouts on their parent's policies. How can you not see where this is all going?

Let's just take a quick look at what happened to Anthem .. a health insurance company in California. Recently Anthem hiked its insurance premiums by ... what? Something like 38 or 40%. You could hear the screaming all the way to Nancy Pelosi's office. But did anyone try to figure out just why Anthem had to increase premiums? Here's your explanation. California brought millions of citizens into its own state version of Medicaid. These millions of people started swarming into hospitals and to doctors for their "free" medical care. Trouble is, California also cut back on payments to health care providers at the same time. The health care providers then shifted their costs over to actual paying customers ... customers insured by Anthem. There go the premiums.

With so many more people added to the insurance rolls - people who are not paying for their policies out of their own pockets - there will be a huge increase in people seeking medical care they don't really need. Just check Boca Raton, Florida and the Medicare recipients down there. Do you remember the investigative report which showed the Boca Medicare crowd treated their weekly doctor's visits as a part of their social life? They didn't necessarily need care, they just wanted to see their friends and the doctor's waiting room was the meeting place. Now that each and every American will have a medical care entitlement, not just the Boca Biddies, you can look for a huge increase in the demand for medical services. And guess what? This huge demand will hit at a time when doctors are deciding to hang it up. They didn't sign on to work for the government, and the passage of ObamaCare is their signal to start making their escape plans.

As the demand for medical services increases exponentially, the money to pay for those services will dry up, even with the increased taxes. The inevitable result, then, will be the rationing of health care. There are no words to adequately describe the base ignorance and stupidity of any American who does not realize that rationing is on the way.

As health insurance premiums rise - as people start clogging doctors offices - as the quality of care gradually declines - there will be more and more cries from the dumb masses for the government to "do something." The political class will be ready to do something all right. Politicians will start telling the dumb masses that the private insurance companies have shown themselves not to be up to the task. They were given the chance, and they blew it. So now it's time for the government option ... its time for the government to offer its own health insurance product.

The new cure-all - the so-called "public option" - will not have any of the constraints placed on it that private insurance companies have to deal with. The government insurance plan will be able to draw from an inexhaustible supply of government grants and bailouts. Instead of raising premiums to cover benefits, the government plan will simply borrow more and more money. Net result: Slowly but surely government competition will force private insurance out of the marketplace. You simply cannot compete with an entity that can lose hundreds of millions of dollars a year without ever having to go into bankruptcy.

Politicians have always known that the government option would work this way. It has never been anything less than a method to be used to destroy the private health insurance marketplace. What's next? The magic Democrat wet dream ... "single payer."

Single payer simply means that one entity will write all the checks. Whether it's for a doctor's visit, a prescription, physical therapy ... whatever, the payments come from one source, and that source is the government. If the government is the only entity that is legally permitted to render payment for health care services ... then that puts the government in complete and absolute control of all healthcare. If you don't think that the person who controls your healthcare controls YOU ... then you've never been really, really sick.

I would be very interested in hearing from someone - anyone - who disagrees with Boortz' assessment, and why they feel this way. Please refrain from name-calling immaturity. I'm really very sick of it. Just because you don't agree with conservatism doesn't mean it's evil. And just because I do not believe Barack Obama is a competent President, this just make me racist.

My experience, however, teaches me that this is a favorite tactic of the Left. If you don't agree with me, then I have no right to speak my mind. That's bullshit and goes against the old tenets of America - "I may nit agree with you, but I will fight for your rights to say it." The far-Left would do well to learn that lesson - especially on college campuses.

Part 3

I wanted to just update all of you on my continuing saga, regarding my job. If you are too lazy to scroll down (not that there is anything wrong with that), here are the first two chapters for you to see:

Part 1
Part 2

It was my intention, following the incident on Thursday, not to discuss any of this with the boss until Monday. For one thing, considering his foul mood that day, the last thing I wanted to do was approach him about anything. I don't work on Fridays, and since I was scheduled to work Monday evening this week, instead of my regular Monday day shift (when she would be there), I decided the best course of action would be to come in on Monday morning and talk to him about it. Perhaps it would have been best to call him after it happened. But I was still pretty shaken up by the whole thing and wasn't exactly sure what I would say.

Regardless, I got a phone call from him Friday. I was unable to get to the phone in time to answer, but he left me a rather nasty sounding message. Not one to sit idly by, I called him back immediately and, like I expected, he left me no chance to speak my peace. Immediately, he began to tell me how I was completely in the wrong and how I am not welcome back until after the upcoming holiday (Passover - where we will be closed for the entire week).

I asked him if she was being punished as well and he responded, "no." Clearly, in his mind, it didn't matter that she started all the trouble, that she had now struck me multiple times, or that I could possibly be the victim. Again, as expected - given his unnatural love for her - I was deemed the guilty party and I will be punished for my transgression.

Now understand, at no time after this all occurred did I expect any less. I've worked for this man for almost two years and I have been verbally and emotionally abused by him, and others on the staff ever since that first day. I've had vegetables thrown at my head, I've had metal bowls placed on my head (and then have them hit with metal spoons, I've been lied to, lied about and criticized repeatedly for not being "fast" enough. I've been screamed at for my political beliefs and have been made fun of for my religious ones. I have witnessed my boss lie bald-faced to creditors and I have seen him go completely berserk over the slightest mistake (but never, ever his own, nor the waitress in question).

So his phone call to me was not the least bit surprising. On the other hand, it certainly did not make me happy. Based on that call, I decided action was needed. Since I was now not welcome in the store for a couple of weeks, my plan to talk to him became moot. There was nothing I could say to him to "open his eyes" because he was going to believe her no matter what.

What also upset me greatly was his comment that my daughter was "laughing" during the exchanged. This was blatantly dishonest. My daughter, who is 18 years old, and a credible witness, was horrified. She had witnessed this co-workers attacks on me previously. When she started up with me this time, my daughter said she was "shocked" that anyone could talk to me (or any other co-worker) the way she talked to me, and get away with it. To suggest my daughter "laughed" proves that this was a lie perpetrated by this co-worker. Anyone who knows my daughter knows that she would NEVER laugh at a situation like this. But again, that doesn't matter because this co-worker has no grasp on honesty.

I had some errands to run Sunday. Even though I was still running a low fever (from the cluster gout), there were a few things I needed to take care of. So before anything went any farther, I contacted the head of the CRC (Chicago Rabbinic Council). Because my store is under the supervision of the CRC, it is part of my job to report everything to them. Thankfully, when the last incident happened a few months ago, I notified them and told them I needed to get out of there. I was careful not to say too much and asked them to not say anything just yet to my boss, because I knew it would be used against me.

I went over to the Rabbi's house and told him the story, from beginning to end. Since he knew there were previous issues, he was not totally unaware. He also has dealt with my boss previously and knows what kind of person he is. The Rabbi's reaction was one of complete disbelief. He was stunned that not only was I being singled out for punishment, but that my boss looked the other way at the fact that this co-worker struck me a second time. In his defense, it was possible I didn't mention the first time she hit me, just that I was being treated very poorly.

He then called his associate, the Rabbi who oversees others in my job citywide, and asked to see him (together with me) as soon as possible. As it turned out, the next errand I had to run was where that other Rabbi was. So we all met there a few minutes later.

At this meeting, it was agreed that I was not in the wrong for reacting the way I did. I was struck first, I was cursed at first and I was threatened first. The CRC's stance, at least as they informed me yesterday, is that my boss is complicit and that action must be taken to both insure that I receive what ever money I am owed (I told the CRC I was no longer interested in going back to work for him) and also to ensure the safety of others who fill that position. Furthermore, the Rabbi (the head of the CRC) told me that they have in the past, and are not afraid to again, remove the certification from the store, which ostensibly would put the boss out of business.

Now let me make one thing clear - I do not believe for a moment that the store will lose it's certification. The Rabbi may speak in strong terms, but that could well have just been for my benefit. In all likelihood (in my opinion), they will talk to my boss and they will come to an agreement to hush this whole thing up. Unfortunately for both of them, unless I am paid everything I am owed, AND I receive a letter of apology from both the boss and this co-worker (and if not, I will demand her firing), I am not letting this go.

You have to understand something about me. For my entire life, I have let people (family, teachers, employers) walk all over me. Even when I was sick, I didn't go after the doctors or hospital I was certain was responsible for botching my care. Like a good trooper, I trusted others to look out for me. But I was always disappointed. I have learned that nobody cares enough to actually follow through on most promises. And you know what? I was just as guilty.

But when I recovered from my illness - no thanks to many I relied on - I realized it was all up to me. So when I wanted something done, including my divorce, I did it all myself. This time, they have gone too far. Yes, I trusted my boss to pay me when he said he would. But I allowed it fall through the cracks week after week because I thought I had no choice. Better late than never, I always said. But a lot of it was my own fault as well. Well, I'm done being the passive one. I will not stand silently while I have been wronged any longer. If my boss, or even the CRC thinks that I will lay down at take this, they are all in for a rude awakening.

15 years ago, I had what I always considered my dream job. I did it well and I did it lovingly. I was honored with awards for my work and I was the happiest I had ever been. But a jealous supervisor couldn't stand the fact that the kids I worked for liked me, and liked me much, much more than they liked him. So, with the help of his boss, who two years later was indicted on charges of child and sexual predator abuse, I was forced out. And I was so despondent by it I left with my tail between my legs.

To this day, I regret not standing up and fighting. I was in the right and I was exceptional at the job I did. One reason I never returned to the profession was that the boss' boss (the deviant criminal, who served 7 years in the Rahway prison) threatened me not to speak up. After that, I knew that I would never find another job like that. And I was right. No one would touch me until I was no longer interested in ever going back.

Well, 8 years ago, my life ended and a new one emerged. I realize that this is just a 24-hour a week job, and not some glamorous career. But I have to take a stand regardless. This is far from over.

Today, something historic has happened.

The Republicans just won control of both the House and Senate, and with any ability, they will control them both for a very long time.

This overhaul of health care, by Obama. Pelosi and company has insured their demise. While the population festers in anger over the arrogance of passing a law that is neither needed, nor wanted, the royal court sits and eats cake.

Those who voted this abomination into office are completely complicit in the destruction of Democracy. Never in my life have I witnessed such an abuse of power by such a power-hungry group of clueless sheep we call politicians.

Oh, we won't feel it right away, and perhaps that will give some cover to those who go blindly into the night, pulling the lever for whoever has a (D) next to their name. For they only know what the Hollywood elite believe, and being unable to think for themselves, they sit idly by as our own freedoms are stripped away - one by one.

Congratulations, Democrats. You finally managed to bribe, conjole and threaten enough people to turn the United States into the next European experiment. From John Kerry's belief in a World order (his litmus test), to Barry Obama's Marxist takeovers of private industry.

Now, I want you to look ahead 20 years. By that time, the government will have destroyed the entire health insurance industry. After all, private corporations can not compete with a government who cares nothing for the bottom line. But how will the government get the money?

Taxes. More and more taxes. And what they can not afford (because there is just so much money available), they simply will ration.

And what of our doctors and nurses? Do you think there will be the same incentive to spend 8 years and thousands of grueling hours just to make pennies for your labor? Don't believe me? It;s already started. That is why many doctors (and now Walgreen's pharmacies) will no longer take Medicare patients.

In 20 years, our medical industry will look exactly like the DMV, the Post Office and the IRS. Impersonal, unfunded and miserable.

By the way, so many "courageous" Democrats voted for this bill. Are you aware that their health insurance will remain the same? Are you aware that while this country falls deeper and deeper in debt - while unemployment continues to rise, that THEY have recently passed a law mandating their pay raises?

I love how certain liberal friends of mine have written, saying " get over yourself, it's a new day." That is so typical of the liberal mindset. These people have no clue what is about to happen. But when the shit hits the fan, they will be first in line to complain about it and the first in line to blame the Republicans. Because they heard on "the View" how the Right wants to kill bunnies.

You've blown it, Democrats. You've jumped the shark. In November, the Republicans will begin to try and do the hopefully not irrevocable damage you have done to our country. At that point, what Reagan did to Carter will look like a close call compared to what this country is going to do to you.

I for one, will enjoy every minute of it.
Could not have said it better myself...

From Victor, through Doug Ross:

Today is a Momentous Day!

Today is the day! Today is the day that all Americans see the naked ambition of fifteen percent of the population as they exert their will over the silent, hard working 85 percent. Today is the culmination of many years of hard work in swaying public perception, breaking down the walls of decency and building a climate of victimization and entitlement. Today the House of Representatives votes on the Senate Health Care Reform Act.

Never mind that no one has actually read this pork nirvana: this bill that nationalizes one sixth of the economy. Never mind that this bill is a slap in the face to all who work hard and don't expect or would accept a handout from anyone. Never mind that, on its face, the bill is a brazen attempt to subvert the Constitution of the United States and assign obligations to buy a service and criminalization of the God-given right to choose.

The right to choose not to buy a service one may see as a bad bargain, or the right to decide what is right for your own body. Those who have eroded the belief in right and wrong for decades; who have literally made a federal case over the right to control a person's body; who have cried that the state had no business, indeed no say at all, about what what one put in their body, believed in their head, and even what they did to their unborn children. Now those very same harpies have turned that tenet on its head as they grasp at the ability to regulate every aspect of what we do with the body God gave us.

A God they do not believe in and they do not seem accountable to. For we live in a time where the ugliest of motivations are cloaked in compassion. A time where the killing of an unborn child is seen as 'kind' as opposed to saddling a selfish couple with the 'burden' of raising unwanted offspring. A time where the lazy and the losers in the lottery of life are trying to maintain a lifestyle by taxing the driven and conscientious people who make this country hum with productivity. These are times that try the morals of men as those who want to invalidate hard work and drive have control of the levers of power and use that awful responsibility for their own gain and avarice.

Before you go on and whine about the poor and stricken and the addict who can neither care for themselves or have the tools to prosper in this world, know this: Life is a harsh taskmaster who punishes the dumb, the lazy and the foolish with scourge and tribulation until they learn to operate within the constraints of civilization. Lessons you don't learn or fail to heed as a child will be revisited repeatedly until you get with the program, succumb to the destruction brought on by your own lusts. Attempts to rewrite God's law, or common sense, for those agnostically inclined, will always result in an unbalanced society that careens hither and yon morally, until it sputters to a halt, mired in the ambivalence of indecision and relativism. A civilization that feels more empathy for the sinners than the sinned-against is destined to fail as the criminals achieve a critical mass and take the controls in efforts to profit from the moral decline.

We have such a state of affairs now. The ugly girl at the dance is now calling the tune, much to the chagrin of the highly offended orchestra. The drop-outs who threw stones at the University's stained glass windows now are the faculty; destroying the ideas and ethics that made this country great. There is a joke in the trades that men teach their children to work before they go off to college and get ruined. The ability to define right and wrong is the hallmark of a great society and the lack thereof the talisman of a civilization in decline. The loafers and anti-establishment crowd of the sixties are now deciding the tax rate for the rest of us, and they are not amused anymore. They are out for revenge. Revenge on the 'boy scouts' who kept their collective noses clean and worked eighty hours a week and put their kids through college and took care of their ailing parents and saluted on Veteran's Day all across this fine country.

'Liberal' doesn't even begin to appropriately label these Marxists! They really are the failed Communists who sewed the cancer of relativism into our public psyche and tried with all of their drug-addled reasoning to convince the rest of us that drive and vigor were not valid traits and conscientiousness was tantamount to selfishness. That success was to be punished, or at least taxed to support the 'less able' among us.

The Democrat majority in both Houses and the Marxist in the White House are poised to enact their vengeance today on all those who ignored their pleas for fairness and charity to the losers and lazy in society. Today they can 'get over' on the corporate toadies and millionaires who rule over and abuse the working class. If it were that easy, FDR, LBJ or even Ralph Nader would have so changed the collective zeitgeist to such an extant that this latest populist farce would be ignored, even maligned by the healthy, prosperous and well adjusted masses.

Instead we have an anti-St. Patrick leading the snakes from the swamps right into the halls of power. Its ironic that the 'most transparent' government in history has hidden its agenda and blocked public reflection on its programs. Its ironic that even the President is not sure what is actually in the health care bill and more troubling that he doesn't care by what process it arrives at his desk. It will be law, no matter how many seats are lost in the coming elections.

This rush to political suicide by an overtly socialist Democrat Party barely disguises the real intent of this travesty of legislative process: the health care reform bill is Communism. Socialism is a 'cooperative' between business and Government. Communism's hallmark is the Government's possession of the means of production. I trot out this aged mare to make a point: a government that can nationalize the better part of a native automobile industry is, by its very nature, Communistic. Such a Government should not be trusted to 'nurse' a substantially healthy industry. Period. If its too big to fail, its just too big.

If the Government can decide that an entire industry needs to be saved and defies its own Constitution to do so, then that Government is invalid and must go. I trust that the Supreme Court will strike this law as soon as the mountain of lawsuits start. But what do we make of a process by which a minority of the population forces its mindset on the majority? Under what authority have GM and Chrysler been seized? Its not Constitutional. And neither is this health care bill.

Yes, today is a momentous day! It is the day we declare war on Liberalism. Today is the day we record the vote for this Communistic legislation. Today we make plans to campaign against our socialist Senators, reprobate Representatives and power-hungry President. And, pass or fail, we will know who voted for our 'right to choose' and who opted for a 'Stalinization' of our legislative process. It works both ways: Freedom of choice extends to the right to choose NOT to do, buy or consume anything, for whatever reason.

Part 2

Thursdays, in the past, had usually been long, hard days. For some time, when I first started this job, I worked a 12 hour shift on Wednesdays. So by the time Thursday rolled around, I was already tired and sore. About 2 months ago, when the boss decided to cut staff hours (and I was now working my shift alone), it was set up that this co-worker was scheduled as well that day. Since we had different jobs, she was scheduled for her thing, me for mine. Unfortunately, the two jobs work hand in hand. On Mondays through Wednesday, there is someone else scheduled during that time (and she works in the evenings, after I leave). I do believe the boss thought this would work better for us not to work together. But due to availability, I presume he had no choice but to have her work Thursday, during the day.

For the most part, it wasn't terrible. She basically stayed away from me, and I from her. At first, the boss also stuck around - whether by design, or not, I don't know. Then, a few weeks ago, we had a minor run in. It was not anything big. She simply was acting obnoxious towards me and let me know (in harsh words) how much she disliked me. Every word from her that day was dripped with disgust. It happened to be an exceptionally busy day and of course, I couldn't work fast enough for her. Admittedly, by 1:00, I was quite sore and moving quickly was not something I was physically up for. The boss has known since the beginning that I have this physically liability. But as he told me more than once, he will not add staff to help me unless we are so busy the staff passes out.

So I simply bit my tongue and did my best to ignore her snide remarks. After all, I'm a 47 year old man who has seem death up close. I have had more life experience in the last 10 years than she has has had in her entire existence. As the adult, I can rise above such pettiness. However, also on that day, for no apparent reason, the boss was also in a foul mood. Normally, the reason he gets that way is due to business being slow (no thanks to the economy). But that day was not the least bit slow - in fact, it was one of the busiest days we've had since I began there.

Still, he was in a terrible mood and of course, took it out on me. I could do no right. Any question I asked was met with shouts of "figure it out yourself!" Even a simple question that I had - which another co-worker asked me to find out for them - was shouted down, as if I were the stupidest person on the face of the earth (my 138 IQ not withstanding). It was pretty uncomfortable. Then, to make matters worse, this co-worker (the one who hates me), decided I was not doing the job she wanted me to do (as if it's her decision) and told the boss (sweetly) how incompetent I was because I was not keeping up. Now understand, it isn't rocket science and no one is going to die if I take an additional 2 minutes to do something the right way.

But that was enough for him to get in my face over it. He threatened to fire me if he heard another complaint from her. It mattered not that the complaint was a fabrication and it mattered not whether she was also guilty of some of the same things she deemed I was wrong about. All that mattered was she was complaining and he didn't want to hear about it. I wasn't worried about being fired over it. What upset me the most was that he was screaming at me in public, in front of our customers. One lady, who is a regular, came up to me afterward and expressed shock that not only would he yell at me like that, but he would yell at me over something so meaningless. I wasn't shocked like she was, because that's just the way he has always been. There have been times when we've lost customers who have walked out over his verbal abuse (not just at me).

After work that Thursday, I contacted someone I know who is involved in the business and let him know I was looking for another job. This person told me he would speak to the boss (which would probably make things infinitely worse). I asked him strongly not to until I found something else. But I have long ago learned not to rely on anyone who doesn't have a vested interest in helping me. So I just dropped it and never called him back.

I discovered the following week that the boss did in fact tell my co-worker to back off and leave me alone. I have no doubt whatsoever that they both got a nice laugh out of it. But that is just them, and as long as she leaves me alone, I could live with it. But as I said before, then came this last Thursday.

The day started innocently enough. Because of the pain in my legs, I was not in a particularly good mood. But I took my Vicodin early and it helped. At around 1:00, the health inspector showed up for a surprise inspection. She is not the most popular person in these parts and at times, we have been (we believe) singled out for violations were most places would have been overlooked. In fact, another store - who like us deals strictly with the Jewish community - has informed the commissioner that this particular inspector is not welcome to be there without a supervisor present. Personally, I think she was just doing her job. Perhaps she has certain anti-Semitic feelings, but the law is the law, and a violation is a violation.

Well, she arrived and we immediately went into clean up mode. While there, she noticed one piece of equipment was faulty and because of that, by law, all the contents within had to be thrown away. It wasn't a huge amount of stuff and she agreed that some of it could be saved. I was in another room when she told him this, and so he called me in and told me to empty the contents. Unaware that there was a problem, I asked him if he wanted me to move them to another place, or simply clean out that particular case (which we do from time to time). It was a simple, understandable question and considering how painful it can be to get down on the floor to clean that out, I wanted to know what I was getting myself into.

Well, he immediately flew into a rage and started screaming at me to do what he told me to do. When I again tried to ask him fir clarification (I didn't want to end up doing the same thing twice, if I got it wrong) I thought he was going to have an aneurysm. Then, he turned his attack on the health inspector. With a voice loud as thunder, he called her a Nazi, an anti-Semite and a few other choice words. She immediately fired back saying she did not have to listen to this. He then told her he hated her f*cking guts and that he was leaving before he said anything worse!

He did leave and she was visibly shaken. I saw her take out her cell phone, took a few pictures of the faulty equipment and then excused herself to, I assume, collect herself in the bathroom. When she emerged a few minutes later, I tried to comfort her and tell her that was just the way he is (not meaning to excuse him). She then told me she was stunned by how he treated me when I asked him such an understanding question. My co-worker, who has at times fanned his flame of anger by turning others against each other, then told the inspector that he really was just angry at my "incompetence" and that she shouldn't take it personally.

First off, there was no reason for her to even open her mouth. Secondly, there was no evidence of any "incompetence." That is just her way of trying to make me look the fool. The inspector looked at her and said, "you are out of your mind." She smiled at me and then left. I looked at my co-worker with absolute disbelieve and she simply smiled and walked away.

At 3:00, my co-worker got a phone call from another co-worker - who happens to be the person who replaces me when my shift ends. At 3:35 (5 minutes after I’m supposed to leave), I asked her (nicely) if he called to say he was coming in late (since he wasn’t there yet – and I was in tremendous physical pain from my ankles and knees). She ignored me, so I asked her again (nicely, again). She then turned to me and said “none of your f*cking business!” So, I said, “excuse me?” I just wanted to know who was coming in next so I could leave.”

To which she replied, “I don’t give a sh*t what you want. If you need to leave, find someone to cover for you.”

Now keep in mind, she is in charge of the scheduling! So she would obviously know the answer. But I was in no mood at this moment to deal with her crap. I just said, “whatever.” To that, she said “just don’t talk to me, a**hole.” To that, I just snapped and I said, “F*ck you.” Now understand, I rarely (if ever) curse. But I was really not up for this. She retorted, “that’s how a a religious person talks? F*ck you, too.”

Now, I would have left it at that, but she then walked close to me and said, “if you ever tell me that again, I will beat the crap out of you.”

Ooooh, scary. So I said, “excuse me, f*ck you!” At that point, she smacked me hard across the face (and knocked my glasses off). I immediately reacted by smacking her back.

I have never in my life ever struck a woman. Her response was “I can’t believe you did that!” Well hello??? It was a reaction to her smacking me (hard) across my face! She then muttered something and went to the bathroom. I gathered my coat and left. Now two things t keep in mind – two of the workers in the kitchen witnessed the entire thing. Also, my daughter happened to have just arrived as well, was there. While she didn’t see me hit her, she heard what she was saying to me. And it wasn’t the first time she overheard her treating me that way.

Keep in mind as well, that this wasn't the first time this co-worker struck me. Remember, as I wrote yesterday, she punched me in the arm when I finally had enough abuse and called her a "bitch." I doubt seriously I was the first to ever call her that. Regardless, it is very unlike me to call anyone a name like that. For those who know me well, they know that I am an absolute teddy bear who woudn't hurt anyone - verbally, or physically. In 20 years of marriage, even by the time I was so angry at my ex, I never, ever called her a bad name, or certainly never raised a hand in anger. As you can tell by my writing about it, it bothered me a great deal when I said it.

But slapping me in the face was the final straw. And I just reacted. Part of me was sorry because I wished I simply beat the crap out of her. But again, if slapping her made me so upset, beating her would have sent me to a place I never want to be. Part of me regretted it because had I just taken it, I'd probably have had cause to file a lawsuit. I might still, but I'm not planning it at this time.

So what is my recourse? I'm not concerned about her pressing charges simply because I have witness who saw her strike first (as well as witnesses who saw her strike me the first time). I know that o matter what happened, the boss will always side with her. So on Monday (I'm scheduled for Monday night, instead of my usual Monday morning this week as a favor for someone else), I am going to come in early have have some words with the boss. I'm going to tell him there will no longer be any time that I will work with her. This includes this Monday night, when she in scheduled, or on Thursdays. I don't care if I lose one days income because I'm prepared to tell him that if he doesn't like it, he can find someone else to abuse.

As far as employment is concerned, I'm not the least bit worried. I do have my disability income and because of the need to stay on Medicare, I can only earn a certain amount of money before I jeopardize it. So if I earn less per hour in another job, I'll just work more hours. On the positive side, I will no longer take a job that causes me to be on my feet for so long at at time.

It's ironic because the last time I found myself out of work, I had just broken up from a long-term relationship (that very week). This time, I've been broken up from another one for just a month. I find it amazing how timing comes into play. There is a reason why these things happen when they do What the reason is, I have no idea. But the good news is that it allows me a clean break from stresses I should not be dealing with.

Perhaps I should have ended both the relationship and the job much, much earlier. I certainly had the reason to do so. But I'm not really good at recognizing what is clearly right in front of me sometimes. I guess I've always needed to be slapped in the face (not always physically) before I really open my eyes and see.

It doesn't take courage to hit someone - especially a woman, n0 matter how horrible she is. But every one has heir breaking point. It isn't anything I'm proud of. But I also know that in a similar situation, many of you would not only do the same, but perhaps worse. No one really deserves to be physically attacked, unless they are attacked first. I don't feel that bad about it because it was simply in reaction to her initial blow. If it were a guy, I probably would have beaten the crap out of him. But as miserable a person she is, I know that I am far stronger than her. That alone kept me from going any further.

Anyway, I just felt this need to be said. I initially rejected the idea of writing about it because I didn't wish to cause myself anymore trouble. But now that I've decided that I really don't care if I stay at this job or not, I thought it best to come forward and share my story.

Friday, March 19, 2010

I did something the other day I never, ever thought I would ever do.

I hit a girl. Hard.

Now, I'm not telling you this to show I'm a monster. Because I'm not. I'm not telling you this because I'm doing some sort of mea culpa. Because I'm not doing that, either.

But in my defense, if there is any such thing, I didn't strike first.

I have a job that for the most part, I enjoy. It is physically very difficult for me because I have been suffering consistently from gout and rheumatoid arthritis - well actually, the diagnosis is ankylosing spondylitis.I've known I had a auto-immune disorder from before I even had my heart attack, almost 8 years ago. In fact, the doctor I went to discuss my symptoms (that were caused by congestive heart failure) were diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis (and then Ankyolosing spondylitis). I had hoped, when the heart attack happened, that it would have proven my original doctor wrong. But unfortunately, it didn't. He just missed the heart failure diagnosis.

Anyway, back to the subject...

So for the past month or so, I have been having a serious flair up of my gout. It's causing swelling in both ankles and both knees. In addition, I have just also been diagnosed with planter fasciitis, which is an inflammation of the irritation and swelling of the thick tissue on
the bottom of my foot. Considering I also have the arthritis AND chronic back pain (from a lower back fusion 10 years ago), it is very hard to do my job quickly.

You see, my job requires me to be on my feet for 6 hours a day. Sure, I get to sit from time to time. But for the most part, I'm on my feet.

Now there is also something else you must know about my place of employment. My boss, the owner of the place, is a die-hard liberal Jew who has no patience for anyone who leans right. For the most part, when he brings up politics (I try to avoid it when we are together), he isn't too vile. But from time to time, he really loses control and completely becomes unhinged - especially when talking about Sarah Palin or Glenn Beck (Or George W. Bush).

To his credit, he is not an ignorant man and at times he has educated me a great deal on why he believes the way he does. We have, at times, had very fruitful conversations and debates. But most of the time, it's because I don't wish to be fired for arguing too stridently.

However, he also has a very unstable side as well. Especially when he feels threatened. Yes, he has come after me (very loudly, embarrassingly and publicly) because of something he heard on the news that morning. This usually happens when he is in a bad mood to begin with - not that excuses any abuse.

It should also be noted that I do not like confrontation and I try to avoid it at all costs, if I can. I am what most people would call a peacemaker. I never raise my voice in anger 9although I used to before my illness, but I think that was mostly the blood pressure talking) and I am very nice and sweet to anyone who lets me. I know I sometimes come across as weak because of this. But this is who I am.

Now there is another employee were I work who is a 24 year old, eastern European immigrant. She is not unattractive (but not my type) and I always tried to be nice to her. I've stuck up fer her at times and again, I really do get along with everybody (and always have). But for some reason, and I think I know how it started, this co-worker simply hates my guts.

The reason it started, I believe, is because my boss decided that there was nothing wrong with telling everyone how much money he is paying me. Because of my education, and the fact that that education is required to do the job I do, I'm actually the highest paid employee on the staff. Unfortunately for everyone else, my income is what is standard for my position. Her problem with that is number one, she's worked her longer (although she has a different job description than I do), and number two, sometimes, she has some of the responsibilities I have (but not the ones that my education is required for).

In addition, the fact that I am a bit slower than she is at those responsibilities, make her feel as if I am grossly over payed. Furthermore, it seems my boss has always been infatuated with any female who has worked for him. The girls know how to flirt and he eats it up. So when he went away for a few weeks, he left her in charge. I didn't really care because I'm only a part-time guy and at this stage of life, I don't want the headache.

Still, because of her absolute hatred of me, she takes it upon herself to treat me as if I were the devil incarnate. And you know what, that also doesn't bother me too much. I'm a firm believer in karma and as long as I know I'm doing right, nothing she can do will bother me. Even in the oft-cases when she purposely lied in order to get me fired. In an above-board company, once it was discovered she lied, she's have been fired. But my boss loves her, so after he refused to accept my story (in one certain case, it couldn't have been me because I was in the hospital at the time it happened). Basically, he told me to stop deflecting and accept responsibility!

A few days later, I approached him about it - hoping he was calmer and would be reasonable. Instead, he just dismissed it as "old news" (just like a liberal, eh?).

Anyway, this had been going on for quite some time. The boss would lose his cool and ALWAYS take it out on me. When it was something I was responsible for, I took the blame like a man and apologized for my mistake (which were never anything so bad as which to blow up over). But I got used to it as the price to stay employed in this economy.

But a few weeks ago, both the boss and this co-worker were in rare form and seemed to gang up on me that day. It happened to be one of our busiest days and by the time my shift was over, I was a complete physically mess. I was in so much physical pain I ended up going to the ER for morphine. But I never said a word at work. I had a job to do and I had to do it. Right? Regardless of the verbal abuses, I took my responsibilities seriously.

But following that fiasco, I informed my boss that I would no longer be working with that co-worker. However, he promised me he would talk to her and I should not over-react. I could just hear him telling her and her responding how much a cry-baby I was. About 3 months after I started there, she made a huge, costly error. Before I knew it, the boss blamed me (she told him it was my fault). I tried to explain that it had nothing to do with me (while she was laughing about it in the other room), but it fell on deaf ears. When I saw her laughing about it, I called her a very bad name to her face. It was the first time I ever remember calling any woman that to her face. It just isn't something I do.

That night, I went home very upset at myself. Yeah, she clearly deserved it. But again, I just don't do things like that. Anyway, when I called her that (and believe me, she has called me much, much worse), she came over and punched me in the arm (and threatened to "kick my ass" LOL). Well, I was stunned she would hit me, but I didn't retaliate. I'm still of the belief you just don't hit a girl.

The next day, I went over to apologize to her. I had hoped my apology would trigger one in her - after all, she started it all by lying. I then told her about my heart transplant, stroke and arthritis and tried to explain why I wasn't as "quick" as she thought I should be (I also have to compensate for short-term memory issues from my stroke). Well, she obviously took it as a sign of weakness and started calling me "big baby" and other childish names from then on out. While it was a bit embarrassing, again I figured she is just a miserable person and ignored her.

But then Thursday happened.

I will complete this story (which is 100% true - I have plenty of witnesses) in part 2.

Points to Ponder

A Question no one is answering:

If, as according to Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer, so many people want this health care legislation, why do they have to resort to tricks, gimmicks and bribes to make it work?

This whole process smells like moldy cheese. Now, I understand Pelosi HAS to say some of the things she says, so not to appear weak against her rivals. But some of what she said is beyond nonsense. For example:

"We have to pass the health care bill so that you can find out what is in it."

Now let's examine Madame Speaker's words. Read it again - "We have to pass the health care bill so that you can find out what is in it." Nope. Sounds just as ridiculous the second time around. What this tells me is that not only is she perhaps the least intelligent House Speaker we've ever had, but that she is so terribly arrogant to believe we don't know how ridiculous she is.

But that's just par for the course with this President and his administration.

And let's talk about this President, for a moment. Did you see his FOX interview with Bret Baier? For the first time in my memory, a news reporter actually asked Obama tough questions (and this includes you, Bill O'Reilly). Throughout the interview, Obama tried desperately to change the subject, even going so far as to condescendingly complain of being interrupted.

Perhaps he was interrupted because he was skirting the questions. Baier, to his unwavering credit, refused to be bullied. If perhaps news folks, whose job it is to ask tough questions, would have treated Obama the way Baier did today, then maybe he wouldn't be the most politically deficient President we've ever had.

I know my opinion counts less than a wad of spit, but please Mr. President - get over yourself and realize you are failing at your job and failing your country. We do not want this crap of a health care bill, we do not want you to take over 1/6 of our economy, we do not want you to financial indebt our children and grandchildren, we do not want you to destroy what's left of our economy in belief of so-called man-made global warming, we do not want you to make friends with people who want us dead and we do not want you to set race-relations back 50 years by making everything about race!

Your plan for health care is dishonest, unconstitutional and very, very dangerous. You want to fix the health care industry? Great. But don't "fix" it by making it much worse. We do not want the Canadian system and we don't want the British system. What we want is the American system. That means we want the free market to work it all out. We want it open across state lines, we want choices that don't require us to fund everybody's nose job, breast implants or abortion.

And we are very tired of doing things the "Chicago" way. Keep your thugs away. We are sick of the Van Joneses, the Anita Dunn's or someone like his "Safe-school's czar" (Kevin Jennings) who advocates "fisting" as a healthy choice for students. These are communists, Marxists, and in the case of Jennings, disturbed people whom you have chosen to represent us with.

My father used to tell me that you are who you associate yourself with. So let's look at those whom this President has chosen to surround himself:

Jeremiah Wright - Obama's pastor for 20 years. As head of the Trinity Baptist Church rails against Jews and other white people from the pulpit. He is a black theologian who believes America is the ultimate evil that must be "damned."

William Ayers - Although Obama tried to convince everyone that he was "just a guy from my neighborhood," In fact Ayers - a member of the terrorist outfit, "The Weather Underground" (known for blowing up buildings and killing cops, and has called for a revolution and the death of 25 million Americans) - actually has had a much deeper and closer relationship. Yes, folks. Obama lied about his relationship with Ayers.

Tony Rezko - Slumlord extraordinaire.

Rashid Khalidi - Ardent anti-Semite. His relationship with Obama was so vile that the L.A. Times had to cover it up, less it cost "Teh Won" the election.

Anita Dunn - Former White House Communications Director whose hero was mass murderer Mao Tse-tung.

Van Jones - Obama's Special Advisor for Green Jobs, who is a avowed Communist and led a petition to indict President Bush for his involvement in the 9-11 "conspiracy."

Look, this is just the beginning. It makes you wonder, did he ever know anyone who wasn't a radical? But even these appointments could be excused if there was something we could point to agree he wants what's best for our country. But every move he (and his administration) have made since taking office have been one embarrassing disaster after another.

For proof, you need to look no further that his faux pas with Israel this past week. It's almost as if he is completely clueless. It's like having a 5-year-old perform surgery. It may look cute, but it will kill the patient (unless he's Doogie Howser - and Barack Obama is NO Doogie).

Let me ask you a question. What if Obama really is everything the Right fears he is. What would look any different? We can "HOPE" that the "CHANGE" Obama wants is what we want also. But after a year of this crap, it's time stop and smells the reality.

And everything depends on this lousy health care legislation. Obama knows that if he can get this passed, then he can continue to peel away at the way we live our lives and our society. But if he's defeated, then one of two things can happen. The Democrats will lose the House and Senate - which is very possible at this point - which may force Obama to move to the Center. Or, he can become completely irrelevant, ala Jimmy Carter, setting up a landslide defeat in 2012, again ala Jimmy Carter.

This bill must be stopped. Not just because Obama's success is tied to it. But because it is a very bad bill for America. If you don't believe me, read the damn thing for yourself. I know! I'm on Medicare because of my disability. If they just expanded Medicare, it wouldn't be as bad. This is far, far worse. Just doing something is not the way to go. If you aren't going to make it better, then don't do it at all.

Ok, I'm done now.
