Well, I just posted Chapter 4 of my transplant story. For those who haven't read any of it, you can access the first three chapters at www.shaynezucker.com.
Well, the lights went out for a couple of days, thanks to ComEd. I had arranged average billing with them when I paid the bill. However, as is the norm with me, they deducted the first month average bill from the amount I paid for the regular bill. Assuming (yeah I know, never assume) that I was current, I was surprised to find out I was $75 short. So, they shut me off. I'll be writing my next article on this issue tomorrow. You will NOT believe some of the things they told me.
Mendy's teacher got married Sunday and we took him to a wedding party tonight for the class. She's moving to Florida, so he's pretty sad. He said he wants to move there too. What I find really sad is that because his school has closed (permanently), his classmates are going to different schools next year. It was kind of a going away party for all of them.
So, I joined a new Synagogue. The old was OK, but wasn't right for me or my family. So far, the new one feels right. That's an excellent sign. In many places I have lived, it has been unfortunately rare that I've felt part of a community. There have been a few, namely, Dallas and Detroit, but overall, I'm somewhat of a "tweener", not religious enough for some, too religious for others. I'm like the Goldilocks of Judaism. Except without the dress.
Speaking of fairy tales, we went to see Shrek 2 today with the kids. It didn't have the innocence of the original, but I especially like the scene with Pinnochio and the women's underwear. It was a little obvious, but hysterical nonetheless.
That's all for now.
