Well, I spent most of my time finishing chapter 6 of my transplant story (read it -- here), so I haven't added any new posts to the blog.
There is just one thing I have to say though. What kind of an idiot smokes (or snorts) away a chance to to be the starting quarterback of the most popular football team in the world? I mean, (Coach) Bill Parcells all but assured Quincy Carter that the job was his.
Look, I'll admit that I have never been a Quincy fan (the QB, not the show), but I still wished him success. I figured if Parcells thought of him as "his guy", then maybe there was something positive about him (except, of course, for his blood results). It must have been a huge thing for the Cowboys to release him the way they did.
I have to give credit to Jerry Jones, though. It appears he learned something from those years, when Cowboy players followed their own set of rules. Jones must have remembered the embarrassment and wasted chances (and lives), his "hands-off" policy caused in the '90s.
So, the 'Boys will start out with Vinny Testaverde. It's interesting that they have made no efort to re-sign Chad Hutchinson, but intead they want to throw Drew Henson and Tony Romo out there. Parcells must really be high on Henson because Vinny is no "spring Chicken" (although I am a year older than him).
It's gonna be an interesting year.
