Here in Chicago, the news really writes itself lately. I read today that Drew Peterson - the Chicago-area police officer who is at the center of a nationwide search for his missing wife - is engaged to be married for the fifth time.

For those of you who are not aware of this person, Peterson is the main suspect in his wife, Stacy's disappearance. In addition, his second wife - Kathleen Savio - was found dead in bathtub in 2004. Initially, her death was ruled accidental. However, following Stacy Peterson's disappearance, Savio's body was exhumed and underwent forensic examination. While the results of the official autopsy ordered by the county have yet to be released to the public, Illinois state attorney James Glasgow announced that a pathologist determined that Savio's death was a homicide.

So here we have a man who is suspected (and many, many people believe is guilty) of killing at least one, and maybe two women that he is married to and now he is engaged for a fifth time - to a woman reportedly the same age (23) as Stacy.

To make the story even more intriguing, Peterson's second wife, Vicki Connolly, has alleged a history of abuse during her 10-year marriage to him, as has her daughter who lived in the household during this time, from the age of 8 to 17 years.

So I was just thinking about something. Can you imagine the conversation between this new fiancee of Peterson's with her mother?

Imagine, if you will, what this young, 23 year old girl said to her mother when she told her she was engaged to be married to Drew Peterson. I mean, what can she say?

I know that there are women out there who for whatever psychotic reason feel compelled to befriend, and even fall in love with, homicidal maniacs. I know that many death-row (and others as well) inmates receive love letters from lonely heart women who are starving for affection.

But number one, Drew Peterson is still married to Stacy. Number two, his last two wives have been the victims of mysterious circumstances - not to mention that wife number two claims she was abused as well.

What is this woman thinking? Are there not any non-alleged wife killers around for her to fall in love with?

On top of this, the dude is 54 years old! Now I don't fault a guy for being attracted to a young woman - that's just the way guys are. But for her? What could she possibly see in this guy?

Again, I can just imagine telling mom all about him.

Wow.

EW!!! That guy is so gross. It was on the news this morning and now they are saying that the one who died in the bathtub didn't actually die in the tub (?? Not quite understanding that - maybe he moved her to the tub. Whatever...they found out she didn't drown in that tub, but she was found there I suppose)
