The following is a guest post by Duane Lester of All American Blogger.
One of the talking points used to pass the health care reform bill was the number 45,000. This is supposedly the number of Americans who dies each year due to a lack of health insurance. However, far more than than are killed each year by liberalism.
Blood Flows Red on the Highways
In 1975, Congress took bold action to the 1973 Oil Embargo by enacting the the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) Program. The goal of the program was to lower the dependence American drivers had on foreign oil.
It worked! Thousands of motorists have had their need for foreign oil reduced because of this legislation, because…they are DEAD!
A 1999 USA TODAY analysis of crash data and estimates from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that, in the years since CAFE standards were mandated under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975, about 46,000 people have died in crashes that they would have survived if they had been traveling in bigger, heavier cars.5
Liberals want us to believe that 45,000 people dying from a lack of health insurance is enough reason to enact massive health care reform, but at the same time they not only refuse to consider lowering the CAFE standard, they want to make them stricter, which would result in more deaths.
It’s estimated that 2,000 people will die this year because of CAFE standards. Liberals are not concerned about these. They are justifiable losses in order to save the planet from the ravages of global climate instability.
“Sex doesn’t cause AIDS – a virus does.”
AIDS was first identified in the United States in 1981. Since then, “an estimated 1,051,875 people have been diagnosed with AIDS in America.” Close to 600,000 of them have died.
In 1983, there were only 1,500 cases of AIDS diagnosed in America, but the rate of infection was doubling every month. The gay rights community, however, was engaged in a campaign of intimidation against those who would label the disease “sexually transmitted.”
For example, the Stonewall Gay Democratic Club in San Francisco was one of the more powerful political groups in the Bay Area. It promoted the slogan, “Sex doesn’t cause AIDS – a virus does.”
According to David Horowitz, in his book “Radical Son,” the group was afraid that when 95 percent of the cases in San Francisco were among gay men, any correlation of the disease with promiscuous homosexual activity would “create a political backlash.”
Gay rights activists in government compounded the problem. Pat Norman was the Director of the Office of Lesbian and Gay Health in San Francisco’s health department. She was also the chair of the Coordinating Committee of Gay and Lesbian Services, which compared the screening of blood donors as “reminiscent of miscegenation blood laws that divided black blood from white.” They even compared it to the internment of Japanese during World War II.
During all this, the gay bath houses continued to operate. Some men there would have unprotected sex with up to ten other men a night. But because liberals were concerned about the political backlash of the facts, it was easier to blame Reagan for committing genocide against the gay community by not funding AIDS research than it was to close the bath houses.
How many cases would have been prevented if liberals had told the truth is impossible to calculate. However, we do know that there are more than a million Americans living with the disease today. More than 14,000 of them will probably die this year.
Black on Black Liberalism
Today, close to 70 percent of black children are illegitimate. It wasn’t always like this.
In 1880 Philadelphia, 75 percent of black families had two parents. New York, circa 1925, showed an illegitimacy rate among black families to be around 15 percent. By 1940, the rate was still only 19 percent. When the liberals decided to take action, it was 1960. The illegitimacy rate was 22 percent. This intervention has had dire consequences in the black community.
The lack of a father in a child’s life has a profound effect on the child. According to an article by Glenn Sacks, having a father in the house “was five times more important in predicting teen drug use than any other sociological factor, including income and race.”
Also, a Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency study concluded that “fatherlessness is so predictive of juvenile crime that, as long as there was a father in the home, children of poor and wealthy families had similar juvenile crime rates.”
Today, black males make up almost half of America’s prison population. Of all the murders in 2007, 43 percent were black. Close to 93 percent of the time, blacks are killed by other blacks.
Forty years of lies have done what 400 years of slavery could not do. It has destroyed the black family. Thomas Sowell said, “The black family — which survived slavery, discrimination, poverty, wars and depressions — began to come apart as the federal government moved in with its well-financed programs to ‘help.’” How many blacks have died because of the lack of fathers in a child’s life? How many blacks have died because of government’s “help?”
Where’s My Liberalism Reform Bill?
One of the other reasons for health care reform was the allegation of insurance companies denying benefits when a major injury or illness occurs. That undoubtedly happened and shouldn’t. But what about my insurance policy against liberalism? We all have one. It’s called the Constitution. Liberals routinely reinterpret it. Not only do they read into it powers they don’t have, but they have a name for it. They call it a “Living Constitution.”
According to the left, we can’t take the document literally and interpret it as it’s written, even if the Framers said that’s exactly what we should to. Instead, we have to look at the modern world and make the Constitution fit into their interpretation. Original intent is so 1787.
Liberals abuse the power they have and crave more. There is no profit motive, but it is about insurance. The left is insuring the recipient voter bloc will continue to vote for the liberal agenda and those in power implementing it.
What is to be done about this? Our “liberalism reform bill” is a ballot. Use it. Lives depend on it.
