Two weeks ago, I wrote about what I thought was going to happen as an outcome of the kidnapping of Gilad Shalit. Unfortunately, my prediction seems to be taking shape. As many of you now know, Hezbollah terrorists have taken an additional ten soldiers captive in the north and have killed 8 Israeli soldiers in what is being considered a joint venture between them, Hamas and Syria.

It is clear that this new action is one that has been mapped out in the back rooms of the terrorist organizations and is a concerted effort to bring the entire region to war.

Haaretz reports:

Immediately following the Hezbollah attack, the organization's Al-Manar television station began broadcasting clips calling on Israel to release Lebanese prisoners held in Israel.

Furthermore, DEBKAfile's military sources say:

Preparations for thHezbollahah kidnap operation were sighted well in advance at its border positions. The attack did not therefore come as a surprise. Nonetheless the first IDF probe conducted after the attack found that Hezbollahah commando unit transferred from its Baalbek base had managed to infiltrate the northern border, lie in wait for two Israeli Hammer jeeps patrolling the border, and blow them up at around 0900 a.m., injuring 6 soldiers, three critically.

Here's the clincher:

Tonight, Olmert is expected to announce an officideclarationion of war. While everyone involved has long realized that Israel has been fighting a war for many years, making it official gives the UN the opportunity to further attack Israel. In fact, Kofi Annan has already issued a statement calling on Israel to stop the attack into southern Lebanon.

Hezbollahlah leader Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah has got to win the chutzpa award for demanding the release of Palestinian prisoners. The Jerusalem Post analyzes the gamble that Nasrallah is taking. This really is Olmert's moment. He can go down in history as being the PM who finally means "ENOUGH", or he can be the one who final leads Israel to defeat.
