There is so much to write about, I don't know where to start.

Ok, I know that Barack Obama did not really call Sarah Palin a pig. What he said was, "you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig." Obviously, this is a oft-spoken comment that Obama used to challenge the Republicans idea of "change."

However, by the very fact that Gov. Palin made the joke about pit-bulls and lipstick during her acceptance speech, one has to wonder what the Senator was thinking (if he was at all). There is no way that this comment would not come back to bite him, and rightfully so.

The last two weeks have been very telling about the character of Senator Obama. For one thing, I find it strikingly odd that he would attack the Vice-Presidential nominee, as opposed to the Presidential nominee. As I stated the other day, it places Obama on the same level as Palin, when he should be staying above it.

Furthermore, this comment begs one to consider that Obama has portrayed himself to be above the nasty politics of past political journeys. His mantra of "Change we can believe in" has been all about his rising above such posturing. But as we have been learning, what the Senator says and what the Senator does is two entirely different things.

The best example is that Obama has assured all of us that he is able to unite the country and reach across the aisle to work with Republicans. But when has he ever? His stint in the State Senate? In the U.S. Senate? No, never has Obama even shown the ability to reach any consensus with the Republicans. And this is a man we want to trust in meeting with Ahmadinejad?

The Obama campaign is grasping at straws for it's last legs. Unfortunately, his base is falling apart at the seams. The angry rhetoric coming daily from the Democratic Underground and the DailyKos is sounding so unhinged that their more moderate supporters are starting to complain and even jump ship. The attacks on Sarah Palin have been so vile that even if some of the smears were true (and apparently, no one has discovered anything truthful), the message would be disregarded because the messenger was not believable.

To make matters worse for Obama, his speech to the German masses is coming back to haunt him again. It was clear at the time that most Americans really had a problem with Obama soaking up such praise by 200,000 Germans. Go figure.

Now, two separate events has brought American disdain for Europe back into the forefront. First, the MTV Music Awards featured a British comedian who's anti-Bush tirade and pro-Obama plea caused a tremendous backlash. Comments posted on MTV's message boards were running 90/10 against Viacom and MTV for the crass, sexually charged and outrageous monologue the host presented. Aside from begging Americans to vote for Obama, he then took aim at the Jonas Brothers because they have the audacity to embrace abstinence. In this oversexed, over hyped world of MTV, the idea that someone would refrain from sex before marriage is so unbelievably "passe" it boggles this idiot's mind.

Of course, when it comes to a conservative woman's daughter, the MTV'ers are spitting with vile rage that Sarah Palin is a "hypocrite", or that her daughter is a slut for having sex. Their excuse is that Palin is hypocritical because she is intolerant to anything except abstinence training. But of course, like all the other smears thrown out my the unhinged left, that's a lie as well. Palin has not promoted abstinence-only education. She has promoted abstinence to be taught alongside sex education.

The other issue that now hurts the Obama campaign is the recent BBC poll that stated that the world overwhelmingly supports Barack Obama for President. Of course, this comes on the heels of the now-infamous Daily Mirror cover story "How Could 59,054,087 be so Dumb".

What amazes me is that after so many years, most people outside this country still do not realize that the last thing an American thinks about is how he is perceived in Europe. The very fact that Britons, French or Germans could have any say whatsoever in our elections is unbelievably arrogant. Many years ago, the United States became independent from England for this very reason. To think Americans would now care what those across the pond want is simply foolhardy and naive.

Most Americans believe that the European way is a seriously flawed and slowly dying way of life. Between its falling birth rates, it's socialist tendencies and it's growing Islamic fundamentalist populations, Europe looks very fragile indeed to most Americans. When an MTV host, or a Guardian writer criticizes the American President, or tries to influence an American election, it is considered almost treasonous.

Yes, there are many Americans who believe that Bush has been a horrible President and there are many Americans who dearly want Obama to win this election. But as a recent Gallup poll suggested, over 60% of Americans consider themselves either fully conservative, or leaning conservative. In contrast, only 22% consider themselves liberal.

This is why this election is not about anything else but George Bush. In any other year, someone like Obama wouldn't stand a chance in Hell of reaching the White House. Only when a Republican seems out of touch (Ford, Bush Sr.), do Democrats have a chance. That is why no Democrat has won the general election in any kind of landslide in over 40 years. And if you forget LBJ in 1964, the last time a Democrat won a resounding victory was 1944!

Seriously, if not for Ross Perot, Bill Clinton would not have won 1992. What this all means is that America is a fiercely independent country and considers itself superior to her friends. The last 100 years has proven America to be a shining example of freedom and democracy. Of course there have been dark moments and bad examples. No country is exempt from it's own demons. But that doesn't and shouldn't disregard the inherent charity and goodness that this country is.

So if Europe, or the Middle East or anywhere else doesn't think so? Well, we consider it proof that we are doing something right. Only Americans have the best interest of America at heart. The fact that so many in the world want to have a vested interest in our election simply means that America is still the example for the rest of the world.

You don't see 100 reporters coming down to Nashville to interview the replacement for Vince Young. Yet you see them rushing to meet Tom Brady's. The Patriots are the class of the league, whether Cowboy fans, Redskin fans, or even Jet fans want to believe it. The same is true on the world stage.

Ah, Shayne. Once again you have managed to grossly diminish your one good point – the fact that Obama has no record of reaching across the aisle – by placing it alongside a slew of unsubstantiated hearsay and posturing with no basis in statistical reality (and one outright – and HUGE – oversight).

First, you write “The angry rhetoric coming daily from the Democratic Underground and the DailyKos is sounding so unhinged that their more moderate supporters are starting to complain and even jump ship.” Where do you get that? If it is true, cite your source.

Second, you are far too LIBERAL in your application of the very effective word ‘most'. Please enlighten your readership with support for the use of it in the following statements:

1. It was clear at the time that most Americans really had a problem with Obama soaking up such praise by 200,000 Germans.

2. …most people outside this country still do not realize that the last thing an American thinks about is how he is perceived in Europe.

3. Most Americans believe that the European way is a seriously flawed and slowly dying way of life.

4. Between its falling birth rates, it's socialist tendencies and it's growing Islamic fundamentalist populations, Europe looks very fragile indeed to most Americans.

*Side note here: Considering how little you THINK Americans care about how they and the country are perceived outside the US borders, I find it intriguing how much time and how many pixels you continually devote to the subject.

Finally, your statement that “…no Democrat has won the general election in any kind of landslide in over 40 years. And if you forget LBJ in 1964, the last time a Democrat won a resounding victory was 1944!” would have carried almost as much oomph even if you had included Clinton’s 1996 slaughter of Dole/Kemp in your “…if you forget…” sentence. Instead, we your readership are left questioning your authority and thoroughness.

Of course, none of this means that I think you should refrain or reduce your efforts to sling the mud that fits your agenda…looking for the holes, half-truths, and outright “What the f*ck!?” statements is entertaining as all get-out and is serving to keep me laser-sharp, if nothing else.

A British comedian poking fun at public political figures on MTV, though? I have to ask…who cares? I mean…really…who out there actually gives a flying bagel about such a thing?

Well, again, let me point out while most Americans like America and what he have represented, those who are not the most, would like nothing better than to return to a european styled way to organize the masses. We, the masses or most, have gotten too close on their heels. The divide is not large enough to satisfy the "some are more equal than others" mentality that our forefathers and early capitalists escaped. Read Edith Wharton's "Bucaneers". It is deftly pointed out to some venture capitalists that the New York social scene is based on London society because the aristocrats like their style if not their government forms. Those in REAL control of America are aristocrats, socialites and thinly disguised robber barons. No dyed in the wool capitalist would have done to the US economy what these people have. NAFTA kills America everyday by placing us at the feet of Globalist Fagans, begging for "More, please sir."
Just incase anyone thinks i don't know what i quoted, socialism is communism lite... a half hearted attempt to keep for themselves what potentially smarter and more ruthless aristos could take from them, reducing them to begging with us commoners.
This whole thing is a distraction so that you aren't paying attention to the bills heding into congress, votes on bills already there and the erosion of what precious little freedom we truly have left.
Funny how heretics drift closer to the edge of oblivion isn't it:)
